Reiki

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese method of healing developed by Dr Mikao Usui, who rediscovered the technique from Buddhist sanskit manuscripts. "Rei" in Japanese refers to the soul or spirit, while "Ki" refers to the universal life force (the "Chi" in Chinese traditional medicine and "Prana" of the Hindhu yogis). Reiki is the vital life force itself, therefore we all have, or are, Reiki, for it is our birthright.

It is the Attunement (Initiation) that the student experiences in the various levels of Reiki training, which is different from other methods of healing. It is an ancient technology for fine-tuning the physical and ethereal bodies to higher vibratory levels. Reiki is a very practical, simple and almost effortless way of reconnecting with the God/Goddess within.

The Technique

The Reiki practitioner channels the universal, spiritual power that is the legacy of all mankind through her hands into the client's body. This restores the balance of energy throughout the whole body to facilitate healing. Reiki is a mind/body integrated art, the practitioner also receives healing through channeling the energy and not feeling drained. For example, if a person is hyper (Yang) their Yin will be increased to balance this and vice versa - if the person is Yin (lethargic) the Yang will be increased.

The practitioner's hands are so sensitive that he/she is able to sense where the problems are in the client's body just by placing them on the client.

Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion, nor does it conflict with any religious or moral beliefs. Sessions last between an hour and an hour and a half.
